Due to COVID-19, Canadian immigration applicants are experiencing longer processing times than usual. For example, the processing time for Canadian Experience Class applications was about 4-6 months but it now takes almost a year. More than 80% of Spousal Sponsorship applications in Canada used to take 1 year for the entire processing but it takes much longer now.
Since the IRCC cannot accurately provide processing times during this pandemic, they have decided to remove the progress bar in the online account. Applicants still can see their current case status in their accounts. To provide more up-to-date information to applicants, the IRCC posts weekly updates on expected processing delays. Applicants can also check visa processing times from the link.
During the process, applicants are advised to update important information to the IRCC, such as contact information or a change to their situation.
